Keeping Up Your Diet Through The Holidays

The holidays are the toughest part of the year to keep up your diet or fitness plan. The Thanksgiving to Christmas span is full of heavy meals, parties, houseguests, and a complete abandonment of diets and fitness schedules.

Diet Through The Holidays

The fact that most of us all tend to have at least one houseguest with us through this season is what makes things so difficult. By nature, we tend to be hosts. We will adopt the eating and sleeping habits of those we take into our homes with the desire to be the best host or hostess possible, without even realizing it. Don’t kick yourself in the buns over it, it’s engrained into our human nature.

How you can keep committed during this time

I find two ways that are great to keep yourself committed during the holidays when your house if full of unhealthy in-laws.

  1. Force them onto your diet plan – Not the most pleasant of ways to go about it. Sure, if you can’t have anything but your healthy stuff in the house without being forced to break your diet, then give the ultimatum of “Your are in my house, these are the rules of the house”. Remember, the family will continue to love you even if they have to eat some healthy food for a week. Keep yourself happy and healthy as priority number one.
  2. Compromise – Most families won’t get angry if there is more than the usual amount of healthy food at dinner to keep you happy as long as they get something that they are used to. They can have their burgers or steaks because we healthier folks can fill up on various other smaller dishes without having to kill ourselves with the main course. Compromise is the key to all things, and staying healthy during the holidays is no exception.

If you know that you are going to have to spend the evenings entertaining family or guests, then make sure to wake up an hour early so you can get a days to exercise routine in. Who knows, you may even find that after a few days you actually prefer exercising in the morning before work. The most successful people in the world tend to do this for a reason. It gives you more energy and allows you to deal with stress and issues with a more level head for the rest of the day.

Keep foods separated

If you have a family that loves to snack then try to find another area of the house to put out all the snacks. If you are cooking or doing work in the kitchen you might find yourself liable to grab a handful of whatever you got for the guests that you wouldn’t normally eat. But if they are out of site, they are out of mind, and you can go about your day without a major distracting looking you in the face.

Channel Your Frustrations

If you’re anything like me, you have a couple of nights during the holidays where all the stresses catch up with you and you just want to explode. If you feel one of these situations coming on, just put everything down and go for a run. The alone time and exercise will allow you to calm down and go back into the house with a happy and relaxed demeanor. Always remember, it’s just a few more days!

Try Diet Supplements

If you don’t have the time to go to the gym to try to keep the calories away over the holiday then it could very well be time to try a new diet supplement like the African mango diet or the raspberry ketones diet. These diets are all scientifically formulated for quick weight loss and are recommended by almost every television doctor. They do not replace regular exercise purely on a health basis, but can really help boost weight loss if you can’t make it to the gym.

Make it through a holiday without breaking your diet or fitness routine and you can consider yourself a professional health enthusiast! This is one of the biggest challenges out there and not many are up for the task. Also, read this review about a simple way, that can help you Lose Weight Fast.
